Zibari, Lavarov discuss arrangements for Maliki’s visit to Moscow

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zibari discussed with the Russian Counterpart, Sergei Lavarov, arrangements and agenda of the expected visit of the Iraqi Premier Nouri al-Maliki for Moscow.

A statement by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to IraqiNews.com cited Saturday “Zibari met his Russian counterpart at the residence of the Russian Mission to the UN last Friday and reviewed with him means of developing Iraqi-Russian relations on fields of energy, oil, defense and infrastructure,” noting that “Both also discussed importance of holding next meeting of the joint Ministerial Committee in Baghdad.”

“The discussions also discussed the Iraqi request to relief Iraq from the UN Charter’s seventh Chapter after taking the necessary steps by the Iraqi side towards Kuwait,” the statement added.

“Zibari and Lavarov reviewed points of view about the international and regional stances two over the Syrian crisis as well as discussing the mission of the new Arab and international envoy to Syria to stop the blood shedding there through political process,” the statement clarified.
