Jubouri, EU Delegation discuss activating Human Rights Commission

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Human Rights Parliamentary Committee, Salim al-Jubouri, discussed with European Delegation means of speeding up forming the Human Rights Commission in Iraq.

A statement by the Committee for IraqiNews.com cited “”MP Jubouri met a delegation comprising representatives of the European Union and the Swedish Embassy and discussed with them several law drafts suggested by the Iraqi Human Rights Committee in Parliament such as the Freedom of Expression and the General Amnesty law drafts,” noting that “They also discussed the issue of forming the Supreme Commission for Human Rights.”

“Jubouri stressed the importance of increasing the woman representation in the Commission and necessity of electing a president and a deputy for the Commission to start its activities officially,” the statement mentioned.

For its part, the EU delegation expressed its readiness to present necessary assistance and advisory in regard to holding hearing sessions for the important laws, the statement concluded.
