Nijad to visit Iraq soon

Follow-up (IraqiNews.com) The Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will visit Iraq soon.

The Iranian ambassador to Iraq, Hassan Danaefer told the Iranian Mehr News agency that “The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran will visit Iraq soon, but the date of this visit has not been set yet.”

“The date of the visit to Baghdad will be set as soon as the Iraqi Prime Minister will return from Russia,” he added.

The Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki will leave Iraq on Monday, heading to the Russian Capital, Moscow, in response to an official invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to discuss bilateral relations and joint cooperation, particularly in the military field and discuss the developments in the region, notably the Syrian crisis.

The Iranian ambassador added that “The commander of the naval forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps will begin next Tuesday an official visit to Iraq at the invitation of the Commander of the Iraqi Navy and during this visit they will discuss areas of mutual cooperation and coordination in matters of training between the navies of Iran and Iraq.”

Concerning the Iranian aircraft inspection in Iraq, Danaefer said “We reject this act which contradicts the international Aviation Agreements, yet, it was only one case of inspection,” stressing that “We have told our protest to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, and we hope that this issue would not be repeated.”
