Shalah: Iraq interests achieved through balanced relations with all countries

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Ali al-Shalah, of the State of Law Coalition confirmed “The interests of Iraq are to be achieved through balanced relations with all countries.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “The relations among the countries are built on the basis of the interests,” noting that “The constitution prohibited establishing relations with some countries against the others so the government is requested to establish good relations with all countries.”

“We had successful relations with the US, Western Europe, China, Japan, Korea and now we are heading to Russia and eastern countries to consolidate relations with them,” he added.

“Iraq had good relations with Russia during 1970s where the Russian companies implemented by the Russian companies so they need to be rehabilitated by them,” he concluded.

Earlier, the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, officially invited the Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, to visit Iraq.

Russian News Agency mentioned that “Maliki invited medvedev to visit Baghdad,” stressing that “Such visit will consolidate the bilateral relations strongly.”

“Maliki confirmed Iraq’s adherence to upgrade relations with Iraq assuring that his visit to Russia represents a good chance to follow up the former agreements,” the statement mentioned.
