New US Ambassador arrives in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The new US Ambassador, Robert Bikroft, arrived in Baghdad on Thursday.

A statement by the US Embassy received by IraqiNews.com cited “Bikroft performed the constitutional oath as the US Ambassador to Iraq during a ceremony held on this occasion at the US Embassy in Baghdad on Thursday.”

“Bikroft will present his credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to the President, Jalal Talabani, as soon as possible,” the statement concluded.

Earlier, the US Senate passed appointing Bikroft as the new US Ambassador in Iraq.

The White House announced on September 10, appointing Bikroft as the first Ambassador to the United States to be deployed in Iraq since the withdrawal of most troops from the country.
