Agricultural parliamentary committee to discuss delayed irrigation project

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Water and Agricultural Parliamentary Committee will hold a symposium over (Kifl -Shanafiya) irrigation project.

MP, Abud al-Esawi, from Najaf province mentioned in press statement received by IraqiNews.com that ”The Symposium will be held under the auspices of the Tribes Parliamentary Committee and will be attended by representatives from the Ministries of Water Resources, Agriculture as well as the Agriculture Committee and MPs from Najaf, Diwaniya and Babel provinces in addition to officials concerned in water resources and farmers to discuss the main problems of this project which witnessed a reluctance from the implementing company.”

The statement added ”Many problems and obstacles occurred in the project that resulted in many damages for the farmers who were prevented from farming for five years,” noting that “The project extends over Najaf, Babel and Diwaniya provinces.”

The Ministry of Water Resources declared “cancellation of the contract from the company which delayed the implementation of the project.” \
