Cultural, Artistic situation in Iraq neglected, says official

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Parliamentary Committee of Culture and Media described the artistic and cultural situation in Iraq after 2003 as “neglected”.

The Rappateur of the Committee, Muayad al-Tayeb said “There is clear negligence for the culture and art in Iraq whether in the budget of the Culture Ministry or the cultural activities to serve this domain.”

“This negligence affects the graduates of the Fine Arts Institute and those of the Fine Arts College who do not find due opportunities for employment that suit their specialization,” Tayeb.

“The political and economic problems experienced by Iraq do not justify neglecting the artistic and cultural sectors, therefore the relevant authorities should seek to develop these scopes,” he concluded.
