MP reveals nomination of four candidates for CBI Governor Post

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Majida al-Timimi, of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, revealed the nomination of four candidates for the post of the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq.

She stated to All Iraq News Agency (IraqiNews.com) on Tuesday “The four candidates are Mohammed Fadhil, the Legal Advisor of the Prime Minister, Ahmed al-Brihi, Dhiya Khayoun and Ali Allawi.”

“Issuing an arrest Warrant against the Governor of CBI, Sinan al-Shibi, and some other officials within the CBI, is well planned issue and of a political purposes,” she added, noting that “We do agree that there is failure in the performance of the CBI, but such issue affects the reputation of Iraq and the national economy.”

A parliamentary source revealed to IraqiNews.com that Shibi called the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, three years ago, to replace some heads of departments within the CBI, but the latter refused.”

“One of the judges issued a judicial warrant against Shibi where the head of the Supreme Judicial Council cancelled this judicial warrant and punished the judge because arresting Shibi offenses the sovereignty of Iraq,” the source concluded.
