UN confirms Iraq’s adherence to fighting starvation

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The United Nations assured the adherence of Iraq in fighting starvation.

A statement by the UN on the occasion of the World Food Programme received by IraqiNews.com on Tuesday cited “On the occasion of the WFP of the UN, the UN assures the increscent of the efforts of the local societies and the civil society organizations in addition to the governments to fight starvation where during the last year many of the Africans suffered from the lack of food and the natural disasters resulted in lacking the food.”

“In Iraq, the WFP, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, started to provided a daily meal for more than half a million Iraqi student in the primary schools in central and southern Iraq for the academic year 2012-2013,” the statement added.

The statement quoted the manger of the Programme, Edward Kaloun, as saying “The financial funds of the WFP in the Iraqi schools will be the two sides where Iraq supports its role as a provider to the WFP and intends to fight starvation.’
