Maliki describes objections over forming Dijla Operations Command as Illegal

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, described the objections over the formation of Dijla Operations Command in some provinces including Kirkuk as “Illegal.”

A statement by Maliki’s office received by IraqiNews.com on Wednesday quoted him as saying “Running the security file is related to the General Commander of the Armed Forces and the security ministers where the security responsibilities were distributed to the operations commands in the provinces such as Baghdad, Anbar, Nineveh, Basra and the Mideast provinces.”

“Dijla Operations Command is not new as stated by some and its tasks are in the disputed upon areas under the supervision of three military divisions that are the fourth, the fifth and the twelfth in three provinces,” he added, noting that “DOC does not target any community or province, but its is a constitutional organized procedure where all the military units must be free in all the terrorists of Iraq because they have to protect the sovereignty of Iraq.”

“DOC is responsible for the protection of the national security from terrorism and other provinces did not object over forming it, but only Kirkuk province objected which is considered illegal objection,” he concluded.
