MP: Parliament not to vote over 2013 budget without receiving Final Accounts of 2012

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Azad Abu Bakir, called “The Government to speed up submitting the Final Accounts of 2012 budget.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The government must present the Final Accounts of 2012 budget to the parliament before the end of 2012 to be able to realize the budget spent so far.”

“The Government presented a file that involves all the Final Accounts of 2006 till 2011 but the parliament is not able to check these accounts due to the situation of Iraq during these years,” he added.

“The parliament decided not to vote over 2013 budget till receiving the Final Accounts of 2012,” he concluded.

It is worth mentioning that the head of the Integrity Parliamentary Committee, Bahaa al-Araji, confirmed that “The Final Accounts of the budget of 2012 will be presented to the parliament with the draft of the 2013 financial budget.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “We called the Council of Ministers to present the final accounts with the draft of 2013 budget.”

“The final accounts will be discussed during the upcoming weeks,” he concluded.

Earlier, the member of the Financial Parliamentary Committee, Majida al-Timimi, revealed that the parliament did not receive any final account for the financial budgets since 2003.
