Workers saved from fire broke out inside Sponge Factory in Najaf

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Civil Defense elements saved three workers from the fire which broke out inside the Sponge Factory in al-Hirafyeen area of southern Najaf province on Friday.

The head of the Media Office of the Civil Defense Department in Najaf, Lieutenant Sarmad Hamza, stated to IraqiNews.com “The civil defense elements managed to extinguish the fire.”

“The fire extinguished after one hour without casualties,” he added, noting that “The fire resulted in huge material damages to the factory.”

“The investigations showed that the fire was caused by thrown cigarette butts,” he concluded.
