Barzani has no right to object formation of TOC, says Sayhoud

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Mohamed al-Sayhoud, of the State of Law Coalition pointed out “The President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, has no right to object the formation of the Tigris Operation Command.”

He stated to IraqiNews.com “The formation of the TOC is a constitutional right for the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, because he is the General Commander of the Armed Forces so can form an operation command in Kirkuk as he did in other provinces.”

“Barzani is still advocating dictatorship and monopolization as he can not abandon such culture,” he added, noting that “Barzani thinks that the Iraqi Army will attack the Kurds while it is formed to protect the Kurds and Arabs equally.”

“Barzani must neglect such thoughts if he wanted to continue in the democratic regime,” he concluded.

Earlier, the President of Kurdistan region, Masoud Barzani, said in a statement on last Monday “We will take whatever steps necessary to cancel the Tigris Operations Command as the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, is not bound by the pledges he made to the country’s president.”

He added “We believed from the beginning that the TOC would be a major factor in further destabilizing the province and that it doesn’t serve the article 140 of the Iraqi permanent constitution as it is against the Kurds, democracy process and the spirit of co-existence.”
