S&DC suggests forming military operations command from all political components in disputed areas

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Parliamentary Security & Defense Committee suggested forming military operations command that involves all the political components in the disputed areas.

Mudhir al-Jinabi, member of the Committee stated to IraqiNews.com that “The Committee discussed the problems between Dijla Operations Command and Peshmerga forces in the disputed areas,” noting that”It turns out that the Kurds believe that the army in those areas is formed of single political component, therefore we suggest to involve all the political components in the formation of the army at the disputed areas.”

“The recent military disputes between Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi Federal Government may ignite the people and escalate the already existing tensions so we call the two sides to negotiate to find settlement for this issue,” Jinabi added.

It is worth mentioning that last Friday witnessed clashes between elements of Dijla Operations Command and bodyguards of a Kurdish figure in east of Tikrit city resulted in killing and injuring a number of Dijla OC’s elements.

For his part, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barazani expressed the Region’s readiness to cope with any unpleasant event or threat, referring to attempts that aim to demolish the friendship between the Shiites and the Kurds.
