Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Omar al-Jubouri of the Iraqiya Slate described the statements of the Deputy Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Barham Salih, over Kirkuk’s identity, as a partisan outbidding among the Kurdish parties in the Kurdistan Region.

Jubouri of Kirkuk province stated to IraqiNews.com that “Such remarks do not serve the efforts exerted to calm the current tensed situation where these statements come within the partisan outbidding among the Kurdish parties within the framework of the electoral propaganda.”

“All know well that Kirkuk is an Iraqi city resided by the three major components (Arabs, Kurds, and Turkmen) so any force whatever its size is cannot manipulate this fact,” he added.

Earlier, Salih has stated that “Kirkuk represents the national struggle for the Kurdish people and through our unified stance we will never allow to Arabize and destroy it again.”

Kirkuk is one of the most disputed areas in Iraq at a time the Arabs and the Turkmen seek for joint administration for it while the Kurds seek to associate it to the Kurdistan Region.
