Nijaifi assures to Barzani, Maliki’s readiness to settle disputes between Baghdad, Erbil

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi parliament Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi assured to the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, the readiness of the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, normalize the recent situation in the disputed areas resulted out of the formation of Dijla Operations Command and Iraqi Army and Peshmerga forces’ movements.

A statement by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan received by IraqiNews.com cited “Nijaifi, while meeting Barzani, in Salah il-Din resort, assured that Maliki is ready to settle the disputes with Kurdistan Region.”

“Nijaifi expressed Maliki’s desire to normalize the situations in the disputed areas and go back to the security agreement signed in 2009 to commonly secure those areas,” the statement added.

“Barzani, for his part, agreed to go back to 2009 agreement to solve the issues and hold dialogue between the military commanders in the disputed areas,” the statement concluded.
