Hakim, Larijani discuss bilateral relations, regional events

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, discussed with the Iranian Shura Council Speaker, Ali Larijani, the bilateral relations between Iraq and Iran as well as discussing the developments of the regional events.

A statement by the SIIC’s presidency cited that “Hakim received on last Wednesday, Larijani, at his office in Baghdad, in presence of leading figures from the Iraqi National Alliance.”

“Larijani praised Hakim’s stance towards the internal and regional events and crises,” appreciating the role of al-Hakim family in the Iraqi arena and its contributions in the Iraqi modern history,” according to the statement.

“For his part, Hakim stressed that Iraq is able to take part in resolving the regional problems through its presidency for the Arab League, confirming that “settling the Iraqi internal disputes is very important in light of the major regional shifts, where he expressed his optimism towards getting over the challenges after achieving internal harmony among the political sides,” it added.

“The head of the SIIC referred to the seriousness of the Syrian crisis, where he emphasized the importance of adopting the peaceful solutions in re-stabilizing the situations in Syria and the region away from the foreign interferences,” the statement concluded.
