Maliki: Iraq not to be distinguished by one community, sect

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, assured that Iraq is one country and one people that cannot be distinguished by one community or sect for any reason.

A statement by Maliki’s office received by IraqiNews.com cited “Maliki received a delegation of the citizens of Kirkuk province where he confirmed that the settlements of the crises in Iraq will not be complete without treating all the citizens with justice and equality regardless their communities whether they were Kurds, Arabs or Turkmen.

“Our duty is not to allow any one to oppress the citizens by violating their rights,” Maliki added, assuring that “Our interest as Iraqis is to build Iraq in all the areas without distinction and the constitution is the source which we have to consult on all the crisis in all the areas.”

“It is not for the benefit of anyone to make the sectarian crises, but it is our interest to live peacefully and united in Iraq,” he concluded.
