Naming disputed areas as Kurdish areas outside Kurdistan Region disrespect for Talabani’s efforts of calming, says Khafaji

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Abdul Mahdi al-Khafaji described naming the disputed areas as Kurdish areas outside Kurdistan Region by the President of Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani as disrespect to the efforts of the President Talabani to calm down the tensions between Baghdad and Erbil.

Khafaji added “Using this name contradicts with the calls of Talabani where these disputed areas are not identified clearly in terms of the administrative borders, therefore those areas need re-determination of borders before identifying their identity.”

“All sides call to alleviate the tensions and the political disputes except Barzani who always escalates his communal tone and this is what makes things go sour,” he added.

Earlier, Barzani has issued a decree to change the name of the disputed areas into “Kurdistani areas outside Kurdistan Region.”

This decision came few hours from Talabani’s call for the Federal Government and Kurdistan Regional Government to avoid escalation and violence.
