Barzani aims at splitting from Iraq by changing name of disputed areas, says Alewi

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Kareem Alewi, considered the decision of the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, over naming the disputed areas as “Kurdistani areas out of Kurdistan Region” as a violation for the constitution.

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “Barzani aims at splitting from Iraq through these behaviors,” noting that “No one among Iraqis supports such statements that complicate the situation between the Central Government and the Kurdistani Regional Government.”

He called “To avoid such statements and to neglect them by the parliament of Kurdistan Region since it is incorrect decision.”

Earlier, Barzani has issued a decree to change the name of the disputed areas into “Kurdistani areas outside Kurdistan Region.”

This decision came few hours post the President, Jalal Talabani’s call for the Federal Government and Kurdistan Regional Government to avoid media escalation and violence.
