MP accuses Government of pressurizing MPs to hide corruption

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Mohamed Eqbal of the Iraqiya Slate accused the Iraqi Government of trying to pressurize the MPs after revealing many files related to corruption and outlaw acts committed by the security institution.

In a statement to Iraqi News, Eqbal said “The Iraqi Government tries to withdraw legality from some MPs through resorting to the Federal Court and arguing that there is no immunity for MPs outside the Parliament,” noting that “these unacceptable allegations represent disregard to the Parliament.”

Earlier, IraqiNews.com has published a message sent by the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, to the Parliament in which he denied any legal immunity for MPs if they release statements and opinions outside the Parliament.
