PUK: Calls to conduct early elections represent "Escape settlement of disputes"

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan headed by the President, Jalal Talabani, described the calls for conducting early parliamentary elections as “An escape the settlement of the disputes.”

The spokesman of the PUK stated in a press release “This calls attempts to escape solving the pending issues,” noting that “Talabani’s absence complicated the crisis but we will implement the roadmap set by him to overcome the crisis in coordination with the political sides.”

“The PUK is considering the current conditions in Iraq accurately,” he mentioned.

“The rule way in Iraq must be corrected and we will meet with the Kurdistani political sides over this issue,” he concluded.

Earlier, Maliki’s office issued a statement stressing that “Maliki will be forced to call for early elections if the political blocs reject resorting to the dialogue.”

The head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, called the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, to resign from his post and to conduct early parliamentary elections to settle the problems in the country.

In a statement for the Iraqis, he said “I call for holding early parliamentary elections and support Maliki’s call in this regard through submitting his resignation and to form a temporary government by the parliament under the supervision of the United Nations.”
