Talabani’s death not to change political scene, says Askari

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Sami al-Askari, of the State of Law Coalition ruled out changing the political scene in case the President, Jalal Talabani, dies.

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “2013 will not be different from 2012 in case Talabani dies,” noting that “The constitution is clearly stating who can succeed him who is the first Vice-President.”

“The parliament should nominate his substitute within 30 days if he announced to be dead or unable to continue in his post,” he mentioned.

“The political map will not be changed and confessionalism will continue according to which the President post is granted to the Kurdistani Alliance so it must present a candidate for vote to substitute Talabani,” he concluded.
