Awadi expects endorsing law of limiting 3 Presidencies\

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The member of Ahrar bloc of Sadr Trend, Awad al-Awadi, expected endorsing the law draft of limiting the three Presidencies’ terms, which is considered by the State of Law Coalition as an attempt to target its leader, the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, during the next sessions of the parliament.

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “The first reading of this law was a surprise due to the majority of MPs’ support for it.”

“The Regime in Iraq is parliamentary where the authority attributed to the Premier and the President post is honorific so the terms of the Premier must be limited in the constitution rather than the President,” he confirmed.

He indicated “We consider this issue from the democracy point of view and to avoid exploiting the authority and money by certain parties.”

“We are concerned that the Federal Court may accept the SLC appeal because we think the Federal Court is not independent and not neutral,” he concluded.
