Harb: Constitution allows gradual private amnesty

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Legal Expert, Tariq Harb, stated that the constitution does not prevent the gradual private amnesty.

In a pres statement received by IraqiNews.com “Article 73 of the constitution allowed the private amnesty through a suggestion by the Prime Minister regarding many crimes where there are many disputes over the sides included by the private amnesty.”

“The private amnesty can be when the family of the victim abandons its right from the one who committed the crime after stating the crimes that are included in this kind of amnesty,” he added.

Earlier, the Media Advisor of the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, stated “Maliki agreed on the recommendation of the Seven-side committee to include the prisoners within the private amnesty when the family of the victim abandons its right.”
