Zebari meets International, Arabic delegations in Munich

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Iraq’s delegation at the Munich Conference on Security in Germany at its (49) session held a series of bilateral meetings to discuss the issues of Iraq, regional and international security.

A statement by the Ministry received by IraqiNews.com cited “During the meeting Foreign Minister discussed Iraqi – U.S. relations and Iraq’s role in regional security with Deputy Secretary of state William Burns who emphasized on national dialogue to address the political crisis in the country and to achieve Iraq’s vital role in security and regional stability.” “He also held talks with Prince Turki al-Faisal Chairman of King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, and with Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Kabeer, Undersecretary of the Foreign Affairs Ministry for multilateral relations that focused on bilateral relations and ways of developing them, especially after the talks of Iraqi delegation in Riyadh recently with the Saudi leadership during the Arab Summit development conference,” the statement added.

The statement mentioned “Moreover, Foreign Minister met Mr. Carl Bildt, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden and discussed bilateral relations, regional and international situations, Minister Zebari met Foreign Affairs minister of Bulgaria, Mr. Nicholas and discussed bilateral relations and the Bulgarian minister’s recent visit to Baghdad.”

The statement continued “Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation met Mr. Lakhdar Brahimi, the joint UN Arab envoy on the Syrian crisis. During the meeting the two sides discussed developments of Syrian crisis and international movements to discuss ways to resolve the crisis and put an end to the suffering of the Syrian people, and there was an exchange of views on developments in the situation that took place between the parties concerned at the security conference in Munich.”

“The Minister stressed Iraq’s stance on the crisis and reviewed the humanitarian aid provided by the Iraqi government to the Syrian people,” the statement concluded.
