Urgent – .Parliament postpones vote on Federal Court law

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The parliament postponed the vote on the Federal Court law during its Tuesday session.

Parliamentary source stated to IraqiNews.com “The parliament postponed the vote due to the lack of quorum required to endorse it which is two thirds of MPs.”

The parliament postponed the vote on this law several times.

The disputes over this law inside the parliament is over granting the membership of 6 clergymen, four of them are Shiite to be nominated by the religious authority in Najaf while two of them are Sunni to be nominated by the Sunni Endowment, in the Court and giving them the veto right concerning any law that they consider as violating the Islamic legislations.
