Sihail, UNDP delegation discuss formation of National Council for Waters in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The first Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Qusai al-Sihail, discussed with a delegation of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) the formation of the Iraqi National Council for Waters.

A statement by the Sihail’s media office reported on Tuesday “Sihail received a delegation of the UNDP chaired by the Council’s head, Peter Bachelor, with attendance of world experts. The conferees discussed the issues associated to the water resources sector and the formation of the National Council for Waters in Iraq as well as discussing the pending issues with Iraq’s riparian countries.”

“The UNDP presented a review about the experiences of the countries which have councils for waters and the importance of forming such councils in developing a sound strategy to administrate the waters sectors and how to deal with the riparian countries,” the statement added.
