MoE imposes financial fines on landfills in Wasit

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Environment imposed financial fines on locations of waste landfill that violate the environmental conditions in Wassit province according to the law (27) of 2009 related to protect and enhance environment.The Ministry of Environment reported in statement received by IraqiNews.com on Saturday ”The financial fines were imposed on several sites of waste landfill which violate the environmental conditions,” stressing that ”The ministry will issue legal measures by imposing financial fines or closing the locations for 30 days in case the punished sites did not adopt the required environmental conditions.””The Ministry of Environment demanded the concerned sides to take its role in addressing this negative phenomenon since such violations will harm health of people near these areas,” the statement added. \
