Decision of postponing PCs elections in Anbar, Nineveh violates law, says Kinani

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The member of the Legal Parlaimentary Committee, Ameer al-Kinani, confirmed that taking the decision of postponing the Provincial Councils elections in Anbar and Nineveh provinces by the Council of Ministers violates the law.

He stated to IraqiNews.com “The law of PCs elections confirms conducting the PCs elections of all the provinces at the same day.”

“The decision was taken due to political reasons because the security situation in the previous elections was worse than the current,” he added, noting that “Anbar and Nineveh provinces witness demonstrations rather than security breaches that threaten the voters and the candidates.”

“The CoM started to control all the State excluding the parliament and without considering the opinion of the Independent High Electoral Commission concerning this decision,” he stressed.

“The CoM had to consider the security breaches that resulted in killing and injuring dozens of citizens,” he continued, remarking that “The Sadr Trend is disappointed for its Ministers support for this decision.”

“Excluding the political blocs by the government is this way is rejected,” he concluded.
