Alwani denies controlling Anbar IHEC by certain political side

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) MP, Khalid al-Alwani, of the Iraqiya Slate denied controlling the Independent High Electoral Commission in Anbar by a certain political side.

He stated to IraqiNews.com “The insistence of some political blocs on postponing the elections in Anbar and Nineveh provinces comes because these blocs lost their public support in these provinces.”

“Claiming that IHEC in Anbar is controlled by specific political side is groundless,” he added, noting that “These blocs were talking about the independence of the IHEC when they won in 2007 elections.”

“There is no doubt over a deal concluded between the Government and some sides known for the Sunni people in these provinces to postpone the Provincial Councils elections,” he concluded.
