Iran: Targeting of mosques attempt to spark sectarian strife in Iraq

(IraqiNews.com) Iran condemned the recent bombings that targeted a number of mosques and Husseiniyas in different parts of Iraq on last Friday.

The spokesperson of Iran Foreign Ministry, Ramin Mahma Nibrist, said “These terrorist operations aim at sparking sectarian strife and diverting the political disputes into sectarian conflicts,” stressing “However, these plans will fail in light of the government procedures and the people’s vigilance which realizes well that those schemes are plotted outside the country.”

“Iran would like to announce its support once again to the Iraqi government’s procedures in fighting terrorism and assures that the convergence in the Iraqi political atmosphere would lead to important results in fighting the terrorist groups,” the Iranian official concluded.
