Kurdistan Region: Parliamentary elections of Kurdistan Region to be conducted as scheduled next July

Erbil (IraqiNews.com) The Presidency of the Kurdistan Region announced that the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, agreed with three Kurdish opposition sides, Taghyeer Slate, Islamic Union and the Islamic Group in addition to the Kurdistani Democratic Party as well as the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to launch the parliamentary elections in Kurdistan Region as scheduled next July.

According to a statement received by IraqiNews.com, issued after the a meeting held on last Monday between Barzani and the members of the Supreme Committee to determine Kurdistan RegionG stance towards the disputes between Baghdad and Erbil “The meeting took place in a positive atmosphere and tackled the internal political situation of Kurdistan Region in addition to the paper of the Kurdish opposition parties.”

“The meeting resulted in deciding three points that are conducting the elections in Kurdistan Region as scheduled and the to post the resolution No. 2 of Kurdistan Region parliament in the official newspaper while the third is to stress KDP and PUK to answer, officially, the message of the opposition sides concerning the reforms within the Kurdistani Regional Government,” the statement concluded.
