Urgent – .Interpol arrests convicted official of Iraq Ministry of Defense

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The International Police (Interpol) arrested an official affiliated to the Iraqi Defense Ministry who escaped the justice over charges related to financial corruption.

Member of the parliament Integrity Committee, MP Othman al-Jihaishi, told IraqiNews.com on Monday “The Interpol arrested Ziyad al-Qatan, the former deputy secretary general at the ministry of Defense in Holland who was sentenced in prison in absentia on financial corruption charges.”

The central criminal court has sentenced Qatan 15 years in prison on 19th, March, 2007 and confiscated his movable and immovable property.
