Khayrat power station inaugurated in Karbala

Karbala (IraqiNews.com) Khayrat power station was inaugurated in Karbala province.

The Deputy Premier for Energy, Hussein al-Shahristani, said during the ceremony of inaugurating the station “The capacity of Khayrat electricity station is 1250 megawatt.”

“The station is considered to be one of the largest electric stations where it will meet the need of the Middle Euphrates provinces of electricity and it will be linked to the national grid,” he added.

Shahristani stressed that “2013 will be the last year in which the Iraqis suffer the electricity crisis and by end of this year new power stations will join the national power grid across the provinces.”
