10th version of Marbad Poetic Festival inaugurated in Basra

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Culture inaugurated on Tuesday morning the events of the tenth Marbad Poetic Festival named after the late poet, Mahmud Braican, in Basra province.The Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Taher al-Hamood, stated in his speech during the inauguration ceremony which was attended by IraqiNews.com correspondent “The current version of Marbad Festival will promote the ties between the Ministry of Culture and cultural community,” noting that “The Festival coincides with the events of (Baghdad The Capital of Arab Culture 2013).””The major part of the budget allocated for the project of (Baghdad the Capital of Arab Culture 2013) was spent on the infrastructures such as the Baby city and rehabilitation of the historical and cultural buildings,” he added.The tenth version of Marbad Poetic Festival will last for three days as of, today, Tuesday 23/April until next Friday.

More than 250 intellectuals and poets as well as many Iraqi educated characters were invited to attend the Festival. \END\
