UNDP offers grants for Iraqi CSOs

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The UN Development Programme concluded Grant agreements with eight civil society organizations in Iraq represented by 31 local CSOs across the country.

A statement received by IraqiNews.com cited “The CSOs will be supported by the UNDP to implement initiatives which help enhance the human rights, counter-terrorism and presenting suitable services in Iraq.”

The statement added that “This step is part of a project to rehabilitate the CSOs to upgrade supervising the government’s performance.”

“This project will be financed by the Trust Fund associated to the UNDAF and the Danish government and will be implemented jointly with the UNOPS,” according to the statement which noted “The project will also be funded by the Civil Society Committee of the Iraqi parliament and the CSOs Committee at the Kurdistan parliament.”
