US welcomes return of Kurd ministers to COM"s Meetings

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The United States welcomed the decision of the Kurdistani Alliance related to the return of the Kurd Ministers to Baghdad to attend a meeting of the Iraqi Council of Ministers to be held on the second of May.

The United States Embassy in Baghdad said in a statement received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) that “The US appreciates the fruitful dialogue, which took place on the twenty-ninth of April between the Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and the delegation of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, led by Prime Minister Nijervan Barzani, which resulted in this positive development.”

The statement added that “The US officials have routinely opened channels of communication closely with Iraqi officials and political leaders in both Baghdad and Erbil in order to encourage constructive steps on the road to national reconciliation,” noting that “We urge all members of the Iraqi Council of Ministers to return to continue the fruitful cooperation and confident and concrete steps that would end the boycott for Iraqi government institutions and work to achieve progress in the process of democratic and economic reforms for the good of all Iraqis.” / End
