Dividing Iraq into regions not good solution for crisis, says Sanjri

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Faris al-Sanjri of the Iraqiya Slate stressed “The call to from regions does not represent good solution for the current crisis in Iraq, urging to move away from the sectarian issues.”

Sanjri stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “Personally, I don’t believe the formation of regions in Iraq would be good solution for the current crisis and the country should be unified because the formation the regions on sectarian and communal bases will harm the entire country,” noting “Neglecting the demands of the demonstrators by the government prompted them to demand for forming regions.”

“Using the military forces against the demonstrators and blocking the borders with Jordon is considered to be provocative behaviors committed by the government that prevented the dialogue with the demonstrators,” he added.

He called to adopt “dialogue similar to that adopted in resolving the crisis between Baghdad government and Erbil regional government where the crisis was settled within few hours.”

One of the demonstrators’ demands on last Friday was the call to form regions.
