MP warns from approving Maritime Navigation Agreement at Khur Abdullah Port

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Mansour al-Timimi of Basra province warned from approving the Maritime Navigation Agreement at Khur Abdullah port, describing it as insult to the Iraqi people and Iraq’s sovereignty.

Timimi said “Iraq is subject to UN sanctions stated in the UN Charter’s Seventh Chapter and the UN Security Council’s resolution No.833 that was imposed on Iraq in 1990 war contains many violations, the thing that makes it easy for Iraq to challenge this law if the disputes among the political sides in Iraq are not there.”

“The endorsement of the Maritime Navigation Agreement of the Iraqi Khur Abdullah port is an insult to Iraq’s sovereignty because this agreement will give Kuwait legal right to run Khur Abdullah port since Iraq is still subject to the UN sanctions,” he added.
