Intifadha Shabaniya demands government to arm higher ranks in Army, Police

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The political commission of Intifadha Shabaniya (Uprising) demanded the Government to equip the security forces in areas that witness security tension with special pistols so they can protect themselves at least.The Head of the political commission within Intifadha Shabaniya (Uprising), Abu Faqar al-Shimari, reported in statement received by IraqiNews.com on Sunday “Instead of distributing vehicles on chieftains and the elders of the tribes in addition to the relatives of the commander of Anbar Operations Command and senior officers, the higher ranks in the army and police forces should be equipped with weapons so they could defend themselves against criminals and elements of former Ba’ath party.”Five security elements were kidnapped while they were heading towards their duty in Anbar province where the gunmen set a fake security checkpoint and their fate is still unknown till now.
