Salih stresses need to maintain Kurdish-Shiite alliance

Erbil (IraqiNews.com) The Deputy head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Barham Salih discussed with the religious and Shiite leading figure, Mohamed al-Haidari, the current political situation in Iraq.

The PUK reported “Salih received in Sulaimaniya the prominent religious and political figure, al-Haidari.”

“Both sides discussed during the meeting, the current political situation in Iraq and the importance of adopting patriotic steps to settle the problems. They also stressed the necessity to set mechanism to address the political crisis,” the statement added.

“The two sides emphasized the need to consolidate the peaceful co-existence among all Iraq’s communities and sects. They assured that maintaining the alliance between the Kurds and the Shiites is crucial point to ensure the unity of the country along with keeping good contact with all the other Iraqi components,” the statement concluded.
