Speaking to IraqiNews.com, Shahreistani: works ongoing to provide 24 hours of power daily by end of 2013

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Deputy Premier for Energy, Hussein al-Shahristani, confirmed the continuity of the Electricity Ministry’s work to boost the power production by end of 2013.

Shahristani told Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The Electricity Ministry announced earlier, that the electricity crisis will be addressed by end of 2013 through joining new power stations being established, to the service.”

The Ministry of Electricity announced that “The power provision in Baghdad ranged between 15 to 16 hours per day over the past days while Maysan and Kirkuk provinces enjoy 24 hours of electric power.”

“Basra province is provided with 16 hours and Nineveh is provided with 18 hours and the rest provinces are provided with electric power ranges between 16-24 hours daily,” it added.

“The production capacity of the eclectic power reached 9750 megawatt over the past days while the demand on the electric energy is currently up to 13500 megawatt,” the MoE pointed out.
