Hakim: We consolidate unity among us for sake of Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, called all sides to hold their historical responsibilities away from the political considerations.

In his Facebook personal page, Hakim posted “For the sake of our homeland and citizens, we consolidate the unity among us.”

“We must perform our duties and hold our responsibilities away from the personal and political considerations,” he concluded.

Earlier, the Symbolic meeting of the national political sides was held at the office of the head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, on last Saturday.

A number of the political key leaders attended the meeting including the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, and the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and the Deputy Premier, Salih al-Mutleg, as well as the representatives of the President Masoud Barzani, in addition to a number of Ministers.

A statement by UNAMI confirmed that the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, Martin Kobler, welcomed the meeting.
