Maliki expresses Iraq’s concerns over demonstrations in Turkey

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki expressed “Iraq’s concerns over the recent developments of the situation in Turkey.”

A statement by Maliki’s office received by IraqiNews.com mentioned that “Maliki was responding to questions on the media communication page over effects of the developments of the situation in Turkey on the situation in Iraq, as saying we are concerned over the security situation in Turkey.”

We consider the security and stability of Turkey as an important segment for the stability of the region, Maliki added, noting that “We believe that resorting to violence to confront demonstrations in turkey will expand the circle of violence the region so we call for more self-restrain and avoid of violence.”

It is worth to mention that a wave of demonstrations and protests has started during the last three days against the Government of Erdogan in Istanbul, and Ankara as well as other Turkish cities.
