INA MP describes Maliki-Barzani meeting as distinct step towards achieving national reconciliation

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Karim Elewi of the Iraqi National Alliance described holding of the Council of Ministers session in Erbil and the meetings that gathered the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki with each of Kurdistan Region’s President and the Region’s Premier as exceptional step towards achieving the national reconciliation and resolving of problems.

The President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani and Maliki announced on last Sunday their agreement on activating the mutual commissions to resolve the problems and settle the pending issues between Baghdad and Erbil.

Elewi said “The holding of the CoM in Kurdistan and Maliki-Barzani meeting is considered to be real start for melting the tensions between the central government and Kurdistan Region.”

He called on all “the political blocs and the country’s leaders to follow example of this step to get rid of the crises the country suffers from.”
