Iraq, UN sign MoU to fight corruption

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraq and the United Nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding to fight corruption.

A statement by the Integrity Commission received by IraqiNews.com cited “The MoU was signed by the Iraqi judge, Alaa Jawad Hameed, the head of the Commission and by the Deputy Representative of the Regional Office of the United Nations in the Middle East and North of Africa.”

“The UN official stated that the MoU aims at increasing the efforts by Iraq to fight corruption and treat its dangerous consequences on the performance of the governmental institutions,” the statement added.

“He also stated that the MoU will help Iraq in completing its procedures to adhere to the International Pact of Fighting Corruption in addition to involving all the political sides and the Non-Governmental Organizations in this issue,” praising “The role of the Integrity Committee in fighting corruption in Iraq and its cooperation with the international organizations to achieve this goal.”
