Military forces deployed in Nineveh to protect voting centers

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) The Security Committee tasked to protect the Provincial Council elections in Nineveh province announced sending military supporting forces to protect the voting centers in the province.

The head of the Committee, Ahmed al-Khafaji, announced in a joint press with the officials of the Independent High Electoral Commission held in Nineveh on Tuesday “We will send the supporting forces from Baghdad to Nineveh to protect the voting centers during the elections.”

“There will be a joint Iraq Army and Police forces in the disputed areas,” he added.

For his part, the head of the Electoral Department within the IHEC, Muqdad al-Shiriefi, assured “IHEC is logistically ready for the voting day,” noting that “The count process will be conducted as it is done in other provinces.”
