Citizen bloc, Ahrar bloc to object nominating Zurfi as Najaf Governor

Najaf (IraqiNews.com) The Citizen bloc headed by the head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, and al-Ahrar bloc headed by the head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, announced that they will object “illegal” nomination of Adnan al-Zurfi, to the governor’s post of Najaf province.

The member of Najaf Provincial Council, Khalid al-Jasha’ami, stated in a press conference “Electing Zurfi as Najaf Governor is illegal and it did not achieve the quorum where we will submit an objection to the legal court over holding such session.”

“We have attended this session to inform about the breaches that it has where there were many illegal procedures accompanied holding the session,” he added, noting that “There was a deal between the Citizen bloc, al-Ahrar Trend and the State of Law Coalition over distributing the posts in Najaf PC without discriminating the Citizen and Ahrar blocs.”

“We do not have personal issue with Zurfi, but we think that he is unqualified man to have the post of Najaf Governor,” he concluded.
