Iraq signs energy convention with EU

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraq and the European Union have signed a convention to establish an Iraqi-European Energy Center on Monday.The office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Hussein al-Shahristani, reported in statement received by IraqiNews.com ”Shahristani signed at his office in Baghdad a convention to establish an Iraqi-European energy center with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security Policy, Baroness Catherine Ashton, with the attendance of her accompanied delegation and the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari, in addition to several representatives of Iraqi ministries concerned in energy field.””The Baroness Catherine Ashton, who has arrived Baghdad at Monday morning, met Shahristani and she is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, to discuss the situations in Iraq as well as the Syrian crisis,” the statement added. Iraq launched the first national energy strategy within (2013-2030) contributing in the development of infrastructure and investment. \END\
